Looking for alpacas in Virginia? You've come to the right place.
A Goode View Alpaca Farm is our nook in the country. We are city folks! Yo! South Philly ... Yo! Adrian ... Yeah, that type. But, we have been converted; that is, converted into the low-stress lifestyle of owning a 15-acre alpaca farm with everything including a farm store (with alpaca apparel), the barn, and a tractor!
We are Auntie Lisa and Uncle Jim. My wife Lisa (that's Auntie Lisa) didn't know she was an animal lover (never having any animals growing up). Now we have two barn cats (Clairable and Maranda), our new baby maremma (Enzo), the Italian sheepdog, and our herd of alpacas. We started with six alpacas, then added two more, and now we have four little ones on the way (with an 11 month wait! wow! How about that, mom?). And we have just begun. Now ask Auntie Lisa... she's an animal lover!! As for me, I'm Uncle Jim. I have always been an animal lover. As I was growing up, I drove my mom and dad CRAZY! Growing up in a small row home, I wanted everything and almost brought home everything from dogs and cats to rats and rabbits to snakes and mudskippers and many, many more. We have one son, Jimmy. He's the best!! He just started college this year. (Wow, time flies.) He can never wait to come home whether it’s to unwind, drive the tractor, or just to be with animals.
Auntie Lisa and I grew up in the city. We met and got married, then moved to New Jersey. From there we moved to Paoli, Pennsylvania where Jimmy went to Conestoga High and a month before Jimmy was to graduate. I said to Auntie Lisa, "Let's do it." She looked at me like I was crazy! Let’s have a change of life; let's buy a farm! I was looking into raising alpacas for about three years and in the search we had also come across some of the most amazing people that also raise alpacas. We have not found anyone in this community that is not ready to help you! It sounds crazy but maybe it's the whole lifestyle, so here we go. We sold the house in a day (yeah, one day...go figure). We bought a farm 350 miles south the next week (and no we didn't have family or friends in the area already). This is a whole new experience, and we haven't looked back since.
Our farm is conveniently located in sight of the Blue Ridge Mountains, just off Route 460 in Goode, Virginia, 40 miles east of Roanoke, Virginia and 20 miles west of Lynchburg, Virginia.
Auntie Lisa also runs a farm store where we have many alpaca goods and many beautiful gifts for that special occasion. Stop in to "the natural alpaca shop and learning center" and say “hi” even if you just need to unwind and hang out!
